Halloween Early at The Boo Bash with the Badge Tonight

Published on Oct 30, 2025

Police vehicles line will up in the historic courtyard in front of Pasadena City Hall on Thursday evening as the Police Department hosts its annual Halloween trunk-or-treat event, offering families the safest alternative to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating.

The Boo Bash with the Badge — Trunk or Treat Halloween Extravaganza runs Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Centennial Square, 100 N. Garfield Avenue in Pasadena’s civic center. This free event provides “a happy, healthy, and safe Halloween experience” for children and young adults.

Organized by the PPD in partnership with the Pasadena Police Foundation and nonprofit Day One, the celebration invites families to trick-or-treat among decorated police vehicles and community trunks.

This year’s celebration coincides with National Substance Use Prevention Month, recognized nationally each October since 2011. Day One, which has spent 35 years working to “Build vibrant, healthy cities by advancing public health, empowering youth, and igniting change,” uses the event to highlight community building. Event materials include Spanish-language outreach.

The event promises games, music, activities, and continuous candy distribution. City of Pasadena Youth Ambassadors will assist at arts and crafts stations, movie stations, and game stations.

In conjunction with Halloween, the Police Department released comprehensive safety guidelines. Trick-or-treaters should wear bright, reflective costumes, cross streets at corners using crosswalks, stick to well-lit areas, travel in groups, and inspect all candy before eating.

The Fire Department urges residents to inspect any displays they plan to use, being careful not to use damaged electrical cords, avoid daisy-chaining cords, never use pyrotechnics as decorations, and use battery-operated candles instead of real flames.
