Certified meditation teacher Amy Rutledge leads free therapeutic sound experience with crystal singing bowls

Meditation guide Amy Rutledge will lead a free one-hour sound bath session at Altadena Library’s Community Room this Friday, offering adults a chance to experience therapeutic frequencies from crystal and Tibetan singing bowls.

The session runs from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St. Participants should bring a mat or towel and arrive early to complete a required liability waiver.

Rutledge holds certification as a Mindfulness and Loving-Kindness Meditation Teacher from the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science in Manhattan. She’s also a certified NeuroDynamic Breathwork Facilitator, Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner, Reiki Practitioner, and Sound Bath Facilitator with extensive professional experience.

Her client list includes IBM, Walmart E-Commerce, WeWork, Girl Scouts of America, and Brookdale Senior Living, as well as public libraries nationwide. She has led sound bath sessions at Los Angeles Public Library, including events in July.

“I will not rush myself into joy. I will let it find me when my body feels ready. Until then, I will be kind. That is enough,” Rutledge writes on her professional website.

Rutledge came to meditation after struggling with Lyme Disease, depression, and anxiety and found that it helped her in ways when many other approaches failed.

Research on singing bowl therapy, including a systematic review in 2024, suggests it may reduce stress, improve spiritual wellness, and reduce tension and anxiety.

The event is free and open to adults 18 and older. For more information, call 626-798-0833. Sign up for the event https://eventactions.com/eareg.aspx?ea=Rsvp&invite=04wdv8r8na0ce0pbewevxx2thbc9r6jsn1wx27vxgj06g4t5twdt
