The Greater Los Angeles Heart & Stroke Walk is set to return to the Rose Bowl Stadium on Sunday, October 27, bringing together thousands of participants for a day of fitness and fundraising.
The event, organized by the American Heart Association, aims to raise awareness and funds for cardiovascular health research and community programs. Participants can choose between 3-mile and 1-mile walking routes around the iconic stadium.
The American Heart Association emphasizes that “Walking in the Heart & Stroke Walk boosts your heart health AND mental health while helping millions of others at the same time.” The walk serves as a platform for individuals to contribute to life-saving science and honor survivors.
This year’s event will feature a three-week citywide healthy food drive in partnership with Niagara Cares. Attendees are encouraged to bring heart-healthy pantry staples to support local food banks and improve nutrition security in the community.
The Heart & Stroke Walk will open its expo at 8:00 a.m., with assigned company photos beginning at the same time. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 9:00 a.m., and the walk itself will begin at 9:15 a.m. The event is set to conclude by noon.
Organizers have arranged free parking in Lots F and K on a first-come, first-served basis. Ride-share users are advised to use the drop-off location in South Lot F, while company shuttles will drop off in Lot K for easy access to the stadium.
The American Heart Association emphasizes the event’s importance in supporting critical research and community health initiatives. The organization encourages participants to be supporters of critical research, community energizers, champions, and lifesavers.
Participants can use a free activity tracker and mobile app to connect with friends and family, share information, and raise funds. The app features a Heart & Stroke Walk on demand playlist and access to Heart & Stroke Walk HQ for easy communication.
Heart disease and stroke survivors will have access to a dedicated survivor lane at the finish line. “Are you a heart or stroke survivor? Use our dedicated survivor lane as you cross the finish line, and we’ll celebrate you in all the best ways!” the organizers state.
The event offers participants the opportunity to redeem “Hero Gear” in an exclusive Rewards Center as a thank you for funds raised. Volunteers are also needed for the event, with sign-up information available on the event website.
