The Free IT Cafe is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 540 W. Woodbury Rd., in Altadena.
Pasadena Village, a nonprofit serving adults over 55, is partnering with ATM (Ayuda Técnica para Mayores), an organization founded by local high school students. The free event offers bilingual Spanish and English tech support for laptops, smartphones and other devices.
Pasadena Now reported the event is part of efforts to bring tech support to Altadena’s fire-recovery hub, addressing needs of displaced residents navigating disaster relief systems.
The student volunteers bring computer science skills and bilingual communication to an age group that increasingly needs both. As recovery efforts move online—from FEMA applications to insurance claims—the digital divide can become a barrier to rebuilding.
Members of the City of Pasadena Senior Commission will attend to gather public input on senior needs.
Free coffee and light refreshments will be available. Registration is requested at the Pasadena Village website. Those needing transportation can request a no-cost ride.
