Tarina Kang, MD, MHA, Chief Medical Officer of Verdugo Hills Hospital, will address the USC Trojan Affiliates Membership Coffee on Thursday, March 2, 2023, highlighting the importance of quality care in the healthcare industry. During the event, Dr. Kang will delve into the challenges and opportunities in providing quality care, and the steps Verdugo Hills Hospital has taken to ensure the highest level of service for patients.
The event, which takes place at the Verdugo Hills Hospital Conference Room C & D in Glendale, will start with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program at 7:00 p.m.
Ann Palmer, the second-year President of USC Trojan Affiliates, said, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Kang speak to our membership about the importance of quality care in the healthcare industry. Her wealth of knowledge and experience will provide valuable insights for our members and guests.”
Dr. Kang is an accomplished care leader with extensive experience in the healthcare field. She has served in various medical director roles, including medical director of quality for Keck Medical Center of USC and medical director for the Evaluation and Treatment Clinic at Keck Hospital of USC.
As a Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Keck Hospital of USC, and with a medical degree from the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Kang brings a unique perspective to the topic.
USC Trojan Affiliates is a women’s organization that supports the University of Southern California and welcomes all interested women to attend its meetings and events. The organization meets five times a year and raises scholarship funds for USC students.
The Trojan Affiliates is in its seventh year of contributing money to its scholarship endowment fund of $100,000, (now well over the initially funded amount) using these dollars to support its scholars. Money is also raised from selling unique USC products —a special line of Maria de La Luz jewelry, scarves, clothing, tablecloths, towels, handmade signs, and more. Members also volunteer at the Pasadena Showcase House to earn funds and participate in the USC Women’s Conference (March 3), USC Day of SCervice (March 11), Swim With Mike (April 1), USC Homecoming (November 4), Town and Gown of USC Holiday Boutique, and USC Trojan Affiliates Holiday Boutique (November), and programs to support the University and its students.
Verdugo Hills Hospital is a 158-bed community hospital that has been serving the Foothill communities of Southern California for 50 years. The hospital offers a wide range of services, including a 24-hour emergency room, a primary stroke center, OB/GYN and infant services, among others. Dr. Kang played a key role in the hospital’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating evaluation tents and vaccine clinics.
The USC Trojan Affiliates meeting will focus on new member recruitment and is open to all women parents, alumni, and friends of USC. Men are also welcome to attend the meeting. The group meets five times a year at various locations within the San Gabriel Valley and hosts additional social and cultural events while raising scholarship funds for USC students.
Members of USC Trojan Affiliates also participate in various programs to support the University and its students, including USC Women’s Conference, USC Day of Service, Swim With Mike, USC Homecoming, Town and Gown of USC Holiday Boutique, and the USC Trojan Affiliates Holiday Boutique. The organization raises money for its scholarship endowment fund through the sale of USC products, volunteering at the Pasadena Showcase House, and participating in various events and programs.
