The Sierra Club Pasadena Group is holding a Gabrielino Trail hike on Saturday, Sept. 24, an eight-mile round trip hike from the parking lot near JPL to Brown Mountain Dam.
The trail follows the stream course, is mostly flat, and there is considerable shade. The trip could take four to five hours.
Hikers are advised to bring enough water and hiking shoes. Participants will stop for a rest and buy your own snacks or lunch near the dam.
Assembly is at the JPL Bridge, at Explorer Road in Altadena, at 9 a.m. . To get there, take Explorer Road starting at the intersection of Windsor Ave. and Ventura St., follow it down east side of Arroyo, then north to the parking area near JPL bridge.
The event is organized by Greg Coleman and Bonnie Strand of the Sierra Club Pasadena Group executive committee.
