The Housing Rights Center will hold a free workshop on rights and responsibilities under California fair housing law Thursday evening in Pasadena, according to the organization’s workshop announcement.
The session covers four areas, according to the event flyer: disability accommodations and modifications, including what is required and how to request or respond to a request; source-of-income protections for voucher holders; immigration-based protections under AB 291; and how to recognize and report housing discrimination.
The workshop is aimed at both sides of the lease. The Housing Rights Center identifies the audience as Pasadena renters and landlords.
Spanish and Armenian interpretation will be provided on request and can be arranged when registering online or by phone, according to the flyer.
The Housing Rights Center is a nonprofit that contracts with the City of Pasadena to provide information to the public about housing discrimination and landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities, according to the Pasadena Housing Department. The workshop appears on the city’s event calendar.
The workshop begins at 6 p.m., the same hour the Pasadena Rental Housing Board convenes its regular meeting at Pasadena City Hall, according to the city’s event calendar. The Board meets in the Council Chamber at 100 N. Garfield Ave. Residents interested in both will have to choose.
Registration is recommended and admission is free.
