Hula Group to Perform at Pasadena Senior Center’s Cultural Thursday

The Pasadena Senior Center will host a Hawaiian-themed Cultural Thursday event on August 22, featuring performances by the Na Kupuna Hula O Joslyn group from Burbank. The hula dancers, ranging in age from 55 to over 90, will showcase a variety of traditional Hawaiian dances.

Scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m., the event will take place at the center’s 85 E. Holly St. location. The performance will include lively, slow, romantic, and rhythmic dances, offering a diverse representation of hula styles.

The Na Kupuna Hula O Joslyn group has a long-standing tradition, having met at the Joslyn Adult Center in Burbank for more than three decades. Over the years, they have performed at various venues, including senior centers, nursing homes, and outdoor festivals.

Admission to the event is free for Pasadena Senior Center members and $5 for nonmembers. Those interested in attending can register through the center’s website, clicking on “Activities & Events, then Special Events,” or by calling 626-795-4311.

The Pasadena Senior Center, a donor-supported nonprofit, operates without government funding. It offers a wide range of services to older adults in the San Gabriel Valley, including social interaction opportunities, fitness programs, and educational activities.

With 10,000 Americans becoming older adults daily, the center aims to address aging-related issues through innovative programs. Its mission is to improve older adults’ lives through caring service and various opportunities.
