The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino is extending its hours this summer, offering visitors six opportunities to explore its renowned gardens during twilight hours.

The Huntington’s Twilight Garden Strolls will allow guests to experience the botanical collections as day transitions to dusk, providing a unique perspective on the gardens typically closed to evening visitors.

The events are scheduled for Sundays, on June 29, July 6, July 20, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, running from 4:30 to either 7:30 or 8 p.m. One Friday evening event is planned for Aug. 1, also from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Most of the institution’s gardens will remain open during the extended hours, though the Library, art galleries, the Conservatory and the Children’s Garden will be closed to visitors.

The Huntington will maintain limited food and beverage service during the events. The Red Car coffee shop will operate until 5:30 p.m., while the 1919 Cafe will temporarily suspend service from 4 to 4:30 p.m. before reopening until 7:30 p.m. Hot food stations at the cafe will close at 7 p.m.

Additional dining options include the Freshwater Pavilion in the Chinese Garden, which will serve boba and light snacks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Huntington Store will remain open throughout each event.

Visitors are prohibited from bringing food and drinks while walking through the gardens, though seating is available on the 1919 Cafe Patio.

The events are open to the public with advance ticket reservations or purchases. Guest passes will be accepted during the extended hours with reservations, and visitors must bring their one-time-use guest passes to check-in.

Tickets are available at the institution’s website. Those with questions or accessibility needs can contact the membership department.

The Huntington’s gardens feature collections from around the world, including Desert, Japanese, Chinese, Rose and Shakespeare gardens, among others.
