Ice House Comedy Club Kicks Off Hispanic Heritage Month With Latino Comedy Lineup

Pasadena venue to feature star comedians, mariachi music and tequila tastings
Published on Sep 12, 2024

The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena begins Hispanic Heritage Month on Sunday, Sept. 15 with a festive celebration featuring popular Latino comedians, live mariachi music and complimentary tequila tastings.

The event, which marks the beginning of the month-long celebration running through Oct. 15, will showcase multiple comedy shows by renowned Latino performers Paul Rodriguez and Rene Vaca.

Michael Harris, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at the Ice House Comedy Club, highlighted the overwhelming response to the event, particularly for Vaca’s performances.

“We have Rene Vaca who has a 7:15 show, and he sold that out. So we added a 9:15 p.m. show, Rene Vaca, and he’s already sold that one out,” Harris said.

The celebration will kick off with Paul Rodriguez and His So Called Friends performing at 7 p.m. in the Legendary Room, while Vaca’s sold-out shows will take place in the California Room.

In addition to the comedy performances, the Ice House is offering a range of entertainment options to create a festive atmosphere for attendees.

“We’re going to have a local mariachi band playing from 6 to 8 p.m. on the patio,” Harris explained. “And one of our tequila partners, Cincoro tequila, is going to do free tequila tasting on the patio as well.”

The local mariachi band, Mariachi Alma Del Sol, will perform on the patio, while Cincoro Tequila will offer free tastings from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Ice House’s decision to host this event reflects its commitment to serving its significant Latino audience, a demographic that has consistently supported the club’s Latino-focused shows.

“Paul (Rodriguez) has had shows there several times over the last year and a half or so,” Harris noted. “We have a really large Latino demographic at the club. So most of our Latino shows do really well, and Paul is one of them.”

While the club hasn’t yet announced plans for additional events during the remainder of Hispanic Heritage Month, Harris encouraged patrons to check the Ice House website regularly for updates on upcoming performances.

The Ice House Comedy Club, located at 24 N Mentor Ave. in Pasadena, has a history of successfully hosting Latino comedy shows.
