Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair Hops Into Pasadena This Weekend

Published on Nov 19, 2021

Jackalope Arts’ Indie Artisan Fair – an annual holiday handmade shopping event – is coming back to Pasadena on Saturday and Sunday, November 20 and 21 – a two-day in-person event with over 200 curated booths to fill Old Pasadena’s Central Park for a weekend of handmade arts and crafts shopping.

This free and family-friendly event is where local culture meets craft. Founded by Pasadena native Sara Diederich and Melissa Kohout of Denver, Colorado, Jackalope Arts has held these semi-annual events in both Pasadena and Denver since the spring of 2015, with the addition of Burbank in 2019. In 2021, Minneapolis was added to the roster of venues.

Each fair showcases over 150 local makers who focus on handmade artistry.

Diederich and Kohout met through their time spent working with an international arts organization, creating regular art centered events in Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. Sharing the passion to create a “community meets artisan event,” Diederich and Kohout started the Indie Artisan Fair so shoppers can connect directly with the artisans.

This weekend, shoppers can expect to find trendsetting indie goods from over 200 makers, including original fashion and jewelry design, paper goods, innovative home decor and housewares, art, photography, food, and much more. Attendees can pre-plan their shopping online and view all participating artisans on the Jackalope website, www.jackalopeartfair.com/pasadena.

As a “thank you” to the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) community, Jackalope Arts will be offering $5 gift cards to any faculty or student with a PUSD ID. Gift cards can be acquired at the info booth and used to shop at any booth at the show.

Central Park, at 275 S. Raymond Ave. is open to all ages and is handicap accessible. Leashed pets are welcome. The organizers will be adhering to state and local COVID-19 safety protocols.
