The Zeta Tau Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., serving Pasadena since 1957, is set to host its annual ‘Summertime…Jazz In The Park’ event on Sunday, August 11.

The four-hour event promises an afternoon of live jazz music, featuring performances by two bands: the John Tirabasso Youth Jazz Band and the Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble. Attendees can bring their own picnics or purchase food and drinks there.

The gathering, scheduled from 3:00  p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will take place at Pasadena Memorial Park.

“Thank you for supporting live jazz music in Pasadena!” the organizers stated in their event announcement. The fraternity aims to foster community engagement through music and culture.

In addition to musical performances, the event will offer Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), D9, and Negro League apparel for sale. This merchandise selection reflects the fraternity’s connection to historically black institutions.

General admission tickets are priced at $25.00 per person. The organizers have implemented a refund policy, allowing attendees to contact them directly for refund requests. However, they note that Eventbrite’s fee is nonrefundable.

Parking for the event will be available in a structure located directly across the street on Raymond Avenue. This convenient location aims to facilitate easy access for attendees from across the region.

The event will be held at Pasadena Memorial Park, located at 85 East Holly Street. As summer reaches its peak, this jazz event offers Pasadena residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy live music in a picturesque outdoor setting.

The combination of local talent, community spirit, and cultural celebration promises a memorable experience for jazz enthusiasts. Those interested in attending can support local, live jazz while enjoying an afternoon in the park.
