A jazz trio will perform romantic classics at the Linda Vista Branch Library on Valentine’s Day, turning a Pasadena neighborhood branch into a concert venue for the afternoon.
The Ann Louise Trio will play selections from the Great American Songbook — the canon of enduring American popular songs and jazz standards written largely between the 1920s and 1960s — at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 14, at the branch at 1281 Bryant St. The event was announced by Tim McDonald, the city’s Director of Libraries and Information Services, in the City Manager’s weekly newsletter.
The trio features Ann Louise on keys and vocals, Geno E on drums and vocals, and Geoff Nudell on woodwinds. Nudell is a Los Angeles-area woodwind musician whose credits include work with the David Ricard Big Band, according to All About Jazz.
The concert is part of the Pasadena Public Library’s programming across its 10 branch locations. The Central Library remains closed for an earthquake retrofit, making branch programming a more prominent part of the library’s public offerings.
The Linda Vista Branch, which opened in 1957, houses approximately 29,000 volumes and is home to the only Decorative Arts Collection in the Pasadena Public Library system, according to the city’s website.
The program is designed for adults, but all are welcome, according to the city’s announcement. Parking is available at the branch.
