Global tariffs are driving Southern California’s jewelry industry to source locally ahead of the holiday season, with seven major trade organizations joining forces to create new domestic buying opportunities.
“Ahead of the important holiday season and with the sourcing uncertainties caused by global tariffs, we wanted to create an opportunity for jewelry professionals to buy and sell goods locally—without the added cost of tariffs,” said Kalpesh Jhaveri, president of Diamond Club West Coast.
The response comes through an expanded trading day and networking event scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18, bringing together Diamond Club West Coast, Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association, Jewelers of America, Women’s Jewelry Association – Los Angeles, Armenian Jewelers Association West Coast Chapter, Polygon, and Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California.
The Trading Day features suppliers showcasing diamonds, colored gemstones, contemporary and vintage jewelry, watches, and industry services, followed by the 5th Annual Summer Soiree — MEGA MIXER! from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Casa Ipanema in downtown Los Angeles.
“This dynamic combination of a daytime trading event followed by an evening mixer was designed to maximize value and convenience for our community in Southern California,” said James Dimick, chief experience officer at sponsor Krainz Creations.
“It’s a full day of productivity and camaraderie, exactly what the industry needs right now.”
Members from participating organizations can attend free with one guest if pre-registered.
Door prices are $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
