Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In Comes to Rose Bowl on Halloween Night

STAFF REPORT
Published on Oct 16, 2020

Legendary horror host Joe Bob Briggs and the Los Angeles-based Black Vortex Cinema brings you a one-of-a-kind drive-in horror film event on Halloween night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena – part of a new, one-of-a-kind, COVID-conscious haunt experience/short horror film festival coming to drive-ins in Southern California this month.

This haunted drive-in experience will follow CDC guidelines for COVID-19, and will also feature cast signing appearances, the organizers said.

“Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In” puts you in the driver’s seat as a ‘live zombie invasion’ occurs in the drive-in around you,” said a Joe Bob Haunted Drive-in announcement. “As the hilarious horror host and his vivacious co-hosts arrive on-screen to present some of the most insane horror shorts ever made, dozens of zombies will attack the drive-in to create a scary, fun, and immersive night unlike any other.”

The unique event will blend the nostalgia of watching a drive-in fright film festival with a live, interactive haunt. As audiences watch Joe Bob, Darcy the Mail Girl, and Felissa onscreen in the Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In film fest from the safety of their own cars, the drive-in itself will be prowled by socially distant ghouls, eager to terrorize.

“During these troubling times, we’ve seen many of our favorite seasonal Halloween events being forced to close, so we wanted to provide a safe, exciting, and scary new way to celebrate our favorite season from the comfort of our own cars,” Black Vortex Cinema founder Christian Ackerman said. “And we couldn’t be more happy to join forces with Joe Bob on this. His wicked humor onscreen is the perfect counterbalance to the live scares that’ll be happening throughout!”

Briggs will act as the pre-recorded Master of Ceremonies, along with his “The Last Drive-In” sidekick Darcy the Mail Girl, and scream queen and actress Felissa Rose.

Tickets for “Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In” start at $99 per car, as low as $20 per person.
