Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena is encouraging families to make the most of summer before the new school year begins, offering a range of activities and events throughout August. The museum aims to provide enriching experiences for children through interactive exhibits and programs.

“It’s time to soak up all the summer fun before kids head back to school!” the museum said in a recent announcement. Kidspace is promoting its Kidspace Campout, which allows children to explore various summer-themed activities in one location, including splashing through the Arroyo stream, riding trikes over a Golden Gate Bridge replica, and gathering around a campfire for music.

The museum will be open seven days a week through Labor Day weekend, although closed on Monday, Aug. 5. Visitors are advised to check the museum’s website, https://kidspacemuseum.org/, for specific hours and up-to-date information.

On Aug. 9, Kidspace will host an Afro-Latin Summer Jam from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature Masanga Marimba, an ensemble playing traditional and popular music from Africa and Latin America, with performances scheduled for 5:30 and 7 p.m. Visitors can bring a picnic or enjoy food for purchase.

The following day, Aug. 10, will see a special artist workshop led by Tierra del Sol artists Aracely Ellis and Leul Asfaw. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can participate in creating kaleidoscope scenes, shapes, figures, lines, dots, and marks to express a dream world. This workshop is included with general admission and free for Kidspace Museum members.

Kidspace also offers birthday party packages, with event spaces available for booking through October. The museum encourages families to consider becoming members, promoting the benefits of year-round access to exhibits and special events.

As a nonprofit organization, Kidspace emphasizes its mission to delight and engage children “emotionally, intellectually, and physically through joyful, kid-driven experiences.” The museum invites all children to play, discover, create, thrive, and “to explore the world with curiosity and kindness.”

For those unable to visit in person, the Kidspace Museum Store offers toys and educational materials for purchase online or for in-store pickup, including heirloom quality wooden toys, lovable plush, building sets, and books. The museum’s website provides additional information on exhibits, events, and membership options.

The museum relies on memberships and donations to support its community outreach efforts. For tips on becoming a member, visit https://kidspacemuseum.org/membership/.
