Scooper Bowl Sunday runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free samples will be available while supplies last, with additional ice cream available for purchase from participating vendors, according to the release. The event is included with regular museum admission and is free for Kidspace members.
Kidspace is located within Brookside Park, adjacent to the Rose Bowl, at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd. — a detail confirmed independently through the museum’s website and Pasadena visitor guides rather than through the release itself.
Nine ice cream makers are confirmed to take part, according to Kidspace: Kanomwaan, Perla’s, La Michoacanna, Ululani’s, Mashti Malones, Bloomfield Creamery, Sure Good, Koolfi Company and Sub-Zero. The release describes the lineup as representative of the range of ice cream traditions found across Los Angeles, from Thai and Mexican-style frozen treats to Hawaiian shave-ice-adjacent offerings and Persian-inspired flavors.
The date coincides with the FIFA World Cup final, also scheduled for July 19. In its release, Kidspace described Scooper Bowl Sunday as its own playful international competition running alongside the match — a scoop-by-scoop counterpart to the day’s soccer championship — inviting families to sample flavors from cultures around the world and meet the local makers behind them while spending the day at the museum’s outdoor exhibits.
Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements said in the release that Los Angeles’ ice cream scene reflects the flavors and traditions of the city’s diverse communities, and that the event is meant to give families a low-key way to celebrate the holiday, try something new, and share the experience of eating ice cream together. Her statement framed the event less as a competition with a winner and more as a shared, communal outing built around a simple treat.
Kidspace Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution focused on serving children and families, according to the release. It hosts nearly 400,000 guests each year on a 3.5-acre outdoor campus that includes more than 40 hands-on exhibits, along with a variety of creative play spaces and water features. The museum’s regular exhibits, separate from the Scooper Bowl Sunday programming, remain open to visitors throughout the day.
Admission for Scooper Bowl Sunday follows standard Kidspace pricing and membership policy, with no separate ticket required for the ice cream event itself, per the release. Families arriving without a museum membership will pay standard admission to access both the museum grounds and the tasting event.
