Kidspace Children’s Museum keeps its gates closed most Mondays. On August 24, it will not.

Kidspace Open Monday is one of six such dates the museum has scheduled — August 10, 17, 24 and 31, then September 7 and 21 — leaving three after this one. It falls in the final month of Kidspace Campout, the summer program running through September 13 on the museum’s 3.5-acre outdoor campus in Brookside Park, and a week after Pasadena Unified School District opened its 2026-27 school year on August 17.

The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at regular admission, according to Kidspace. Adults and children age 1 and older pay $17.00; seniors 62 and older pay $15.00. Infants under 1 and members enter free. Kidspace is not accepting cash and issues timed tickets, allowing a 30-minute grace period for late arrivals.

More than 40 hands-on exhibits fill the indoor galleries and the outdoor campus beside the Rose Bowl. Campout programming, included with admission, sends children through the Arroyo Pequeño water exhibit and gathers families for campfire songs and crafts. Indoor galleries have capacity limits and fill first come, first served.

Kidspace maintains standing ties to Altadena. On Fridays the Altadena Library District parks its mobile library outside the museum from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., and opening a library card there takes $3 off admission for up to four guests. In May, Kidspace hosted a free block party at Brookside Park for the Pasadena and Altadena communities.

“This block party is a great way to connect with the people and help us realize that it’s not about those structures that we’ve lost; it’s about the community,” Nic Arnzen, chair of the Altadena Town Council, said at that event.

In a May 2025 statement, Kidspace announced free admission for households in wildfire-affected ZIP codes, including Altadena’s 91001, funded by a donation from Fast Retailing, UNIQLO’s parent company. “Since reopening after the January wildfires, we have been providing access programs,” Lisa Clements, chief executive officer of Kidspace, said in that statement. The program offered up to 9,500 tickets and ended October 31, 2025.

The campus is built for children 10 and under, and an adult must accompany every child; adults without children are not admitted. All museum spaces are wheelchair accessible, with wheelchairs available first come, first served. Free parking is in Rose Bowl Lot I, near the Jackie Robinson Baseball Field and the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, and the museum is reachable by Metro and Pasadena Transit.

Kidspace is at 480 North Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91103. The phone number is (626) 449-9144.

After September 21, the last Open Monday now scheduled, the exception runs out.
