The San Marino Historical Society is inviting residents on a one-hour armchair scavenger hunt across Los Angeles, guided by local author and food and travel writer Danny Jensen.
The free public Speaker Series program will focus on his interactive guidebook “Los Angeles Scavenger: The Ultimate Search for Los Angeles’s Hidden Treasures.”
According to the event notice, the talk is designed to help attendees see San Marino and greater Los Angeles “in new ways” as they locate “under-the-radar and iconic architectural landmarks” using photos and rhyming clues from the book.
Jensen’s guide highlights more than 300 locations in neighborhoods across Los Angeles and neighboring cities, from eclectic public art and unique architecture to secret gardens, hidden staircases and historic cemeteries.
The San Marino Historical Society, which preserves and teaches the city’s history through archives, exhibits and public programs, offers three or four free lectures and events each year as part of its Speaker Series.
The upcoming program is one of its periodic talks on topics selected for the community, according to the event notice.
