No way is the answer to that ridiculous question. However, when you start to rack up those shoes you can be faced with a serious clutter problem. You know what we mean, don’t you…

GetOrganizedAlready.com has a way to solve the issue once and for all. And it’s not as difficult as you first thought.

Before you start, you’ll need a few bags to either give to charity or put in the trash, a dust pan or vacuum to tidy up afterwards, and a few rubber bands.

Gather all of your shoes and spend a couple of minutes picking out the shoes that can no longer stay in your home. (Don’t worry, we all have a broken pair that we’ve been holding out on for way too long.)

Next, you’re going to want to start on categories. GetOrganizedAlready.com advises starting with athletic shoes which can include anything you use to work out. Again, take your time deciding which ones you want to keep and bin, tidying the ones you’re keeping away as you go. You can see exactly how to do it here:

You might have a bunch of high heels that you’ll also need to sort through. Remember: if the shoe hurts after a couple of minutes, do you really want to keep it? If you don’t, go straight through to sorting your sandals and flip-flops. This is where the rubber bands come in handy. Simply put a band around each pair to keep them together in the bag or on your shelf.

Next up is boots. GetOrganizedAlready.com says that these often take up the most room so sorting through them can really provide you with the space you need. There’s a couple of tricks you can use to store boots. Cut a pool noodle and stick it inside any tall boots to keep them standing upright and hang slightly smaller ones on pants/skirt hangers. (Make sure the hanger is padded so it doesn’t affect the material.)

You may have no more shoes to sift through or you may have a few casual items that still need sorting. Again, always remember to keep the ones you really love and throw everything else away. If anything has dust on it, it’s probably time to let it go to a better home.

Once you’re done, you’re going to have a lot of bags. You can either put them in the car and drop them off at a charity shop or arrange a pick-up truck to take them there for you.

So there you have it. Your closet should be a lot emptier than it once was and definitely cleaner. Now, you can see all of your shoes and be satisfied that you’re actually going to wear each pair. If you need more decluttering help, contact GetOrganizedAlready.com for even more expert advice.
