The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Shakespeare Club, 171 S. Grand Avenue, and recognizes six honorees whose leadership made measurable differences during the disaster and its aftermath. Among the honorees is Brandon D. Lamar, president of the NAACP Pasadena Branch, whose DENA Relief Drive collected more than 400,000 pounds of supplies and over $75,000 in gift cards, assisting approximately 6,000 families affected by the fire. The DENA Relief Drive is a testament to what we can accomplish when a community comes together, Lamar told Pasadena Now in February. Other honorees include Pamela Cantero-More, Jill Hawkins, Darryl Qualls, and the Flintridge Center organization.
McGregor had been warning about fire danger in the area. He told PEOPLE magazine, “I knew this canyon, it’s been decades since we last had a wildfire; the fuels are abundant.” Sponsorship packages for the event include levels of $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000.
