The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena features the Ocean Worlds Life Surveyor (OWLS) program to investigate liquid water across the solar system – a high priority for the astrobiological community – in a discussion on Thursday, Sept. 15, live on JPL’s YouTube channel.

The Ocean Worlds Life Survey (OWLS) is the first life detection suite to explore a wide range of size scales, from single molecules to microscopic organisms, in a water sample.

Composed of six instruments designed to ingest liquid water samples and prioritize life-like data for transmission, OWLS is an integrated, portable, and autonomous life-detection instrument suite designed to identify and characterize life on ocean worlds.

Mark Wronkiewicz, Research Data Scientist at NASA/JPL), will be the main speaker. Marc Razze and Brian White, of JPL’s Public Services Office, are hosting the program which starts at 7 p.m.
