Learn to Draw Human Anatomy

Published on Oct 3, 2021

Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena is offering online Classical Figure Drawing classes for adults 18 and above starting on Tuesday, October 5.

Classes will be on Tuesdays up to December 14, 6 to 7:30 p.m. No class is scheduled on November 23, according to an Armory Center announcement.

In this class, participants will learn how to render and draw human anatomy and figure studies by referencing and imitating classical master paintings. They will also have the opportunity to learn to recreate images of the human form based on famous paintings from art history. There will be no live models.

Andrew K. Currey, co-founder of the Painting and Drawing Association of North Texas, is teaching the course. Currey restored 15th Century paintings for the Vatican through the Lorenzo Di Medici School in Florence, Italy.

In 2014, he was the Artist-in-Residence of Shankill Castle in Paulstown, Ireland.

Currey has an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. He is a 2016 Armory Fellow.
