It’s time for all those incredible lights again. The Enchanted Forest of Light at Descanso Gardens has opened for this year’s holiday season, turning the grounds into a mesmerizing display of light and sounds.
Guests stroll on the usual botanical garden paths through the lighting installations —a walk that can take from an hour to 90 minutes—through a dazzling swirl of lights, colors, and ambient music, transforming the already impressive gardens into dramatic, and mystical, botanical artscapes.
This year’s installations include the return of the magical “stained glass” houses by sculptor Tom Fruin; a set of sparkling geometric installations from HYBYCOZO; the “Flower Power” light display on the Promenade; and dramatic lighting effects in the Ancient Forest.
“I’m here every year like clockwork,” said Ellen Tanaka, visiting from San Diego. “It’s my favorite one of these displays.”
The Enchanted Forest of Light at Decanso Gardens is now open from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, through January 5.
Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Dr., La Cañada Flintridge. For more information, call (818) 949-42002 or visit www.descansogardens.org.
