The recent Lineage gala featured an array of delightful food and drinks, complemented by the entertaining performances of singing waiters. These talented performers surprised guests by bursting into song while serving delicious snacks, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the evening.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including a photo booth for fun snapshots, specialty cocktails at the Lineage Lounge, and sparkle services provided by Ericalynn. An exciting fundraising opportunity was also available, allowing guests to purchase stars in support of various programs. For those who missed the initial chance, the starboard remains accessible in the Lineage Lobby for the next month.
The evening commenced with a nostalgic performance by Kathy Baker, who recited a piece from the inaugural Lineage show, joined by some of the original dancers. Don Thomas and Cynthia Crass also performed a recreation of their act from the 1999 show, adding a touch of history to the event.
A standout moment occurred when Anna Christy and Alan Geier, accompanied by Lineage dancers, delivered a breathtaking tribute to Brandon Toh.
The stage was then set for Dance for Joy, who electrified the audience with their performances of “Freedom” by Jon Baptiste and “What I Did For Love.” This performance was dedicated to Mary Anne Moses and Dan Moran, cherished members of the Dance for Joy community who were lost this year. Notably, Dan’s final show with Lineage featured a Dance for Joy piece titled “Puckoon.”
In keeping with the gala’s spirit of recognition, four individuals were honored for their significant contributions to the Lineage community.
Denise Follingstad was honored as a cornerstone of the Dance for Joy program, warmly welcoming new members and nurturing the community.
John Guth, a long-time composer and sound engineer for Lineage productions, along with his wife, Michelle Vanderhule, has played a vital role in enhancing the organization’s artistic endeavors.
Austin Roy, who began his journey as a high school intern, has evolved into a multifaceted leader within Lineage, contributing as a dance teacher, development director, dancer, director, and board member. His dedication has propelled Lineage to new creative heights.
Hilary Thomas received a surprise award from the Board of Directors, acknowledging her artistic vision and leadership that have helped Lineage flourish over the past 25 years into a vibrant community-based organization.
The gala not only celebrated the past but also set the stage for future endeavors. For more information on Lineage Dance, their programs or to contribute visit www.lineagepac.org.
