Local Developer Discusses “Playhouse Village: A Century in the Making” on Wednesday

This week’s open-to-the-public meeting of the Pasadena Rotary Club will feature Ken McCormick, Chairman of the Board of Governors of The Huntington Library in San Marino, and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Pasadena Playhouse, as he speaks on the topic, “Playhouse Village: A Century in the Making,” on Wednesday, May 18, starting at 12 noon.

At the meeting, he will discuss the development of the Playhouse area and how Playhouse Village came about.

McCormick is a longtime Pasadenan involved in a variety of civic activities over the years. He is currently managing Mill Creek Development, a planning and development business in the Playhouse Village area.

After graduating in history from Harvard in 1973, McCormick launched the Pasadena Guardian, a community newspaper focused on urban planning, the arts and school integration. Returning to graduate school a few years later, he embarked on a career in finance at Kleinwort Benson in London and JP Morgan in New York, returning to Pasadena full time in 1996.

Apart from being Chairman of the Board of Governors, McCormick currently chairs The Huntington’s Research Committee. He and his wife Tracy have four children and live in Pasadena.
