The Los Angeles Children’s Choir in Pasadena is actively recruiting young male singers for its acclaimed Young Men’s Ensemble, with auditions continuing through August 28.
The ensemble, designed for singers with changed or changing voices, offers a unique opportunity for young men to continue their musical journey during vocal transition.
Under the guidance of Dr. Steven Kronauer, an expert in adolescent voice change, Young Men’s Ensemble provides comprehensive vocal training and exposure to diverse musical styles. The program emphasizes music literacy development and fosters an environment of camaraderie for young singers navigating their vocal transitions.
Young Men’s Ensemble members receive professional musicianship training and may participate in touring opportunities, including a potential international tour planned for the summer of 2025. The ensemble also offers access to a rich repertoire and provides significant performance opportunities and workshops for its members. Young Men’s Ensemble rehearses on Sundays.
Interested singers can register for an audition by emailing audition@lachildrenschorus.org, according to the LACC announcement.
LACC’s program extends beyond Young Men’s Ensemble, offering various ensembles for different age groups and skill levels, including treble choirs for singers aged 8-13.
For singers ages 6-7, LACC offers non-auditioned First Experiences in Singing (FES) classes, providing an entry point for the youngest musical talents.
The organization provides a comprehensive, balanced approach to musical education, supporting healthy vocal development and fostering musicianship skills.
Choristers in LACC’s programs have opportunities to perform with prestigious companies such as Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
LACC’s educational philosophy focuses on nurturing the whole child, allowing young singers to discover their musical abilities in a supportive environment.
The choir’s other ensembles include Preparatory Choir for beginners, Apprentice Choir for those with some experience, and the more advanced Intermediate and Concert Choirs.
LACC’s top-tier ensemble, the GRAMMY Award-winning Concert Choir, frequently collaborates with leading local arts organizations for high-profile performances and takes musicianship classes on Sundays.
The Chamber Singers, another advanced ensemble, caters to more musically accomplished and technically sophisticated treble-voiced singers, performing works of sublime complexity.
