Adapted from the popular television show SpongeBob SquarePants, The SpongeBob Musical follows the citizens of Bikini Bottom as they face the threat of a gigantic volcanic eruption that could wipe out their entire town. As chaos ensues, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy set out to save their community. Meanwhile, other citizens find different ways to cope with the crisis. Squidward seizes the opportunity to fulfill his dream of becoming a star, while Mr. Krabs capitalizes on the impending doom to sell more Krabby Patties. This musical is filled with colorful set pieces, wacky characters, and hilarious moments that explore themes of friendship and identity.

“This show is a blast, both to perform and to watch! Our tech crew worked very hard to transform our auditorium into a completely new space under the sea, and all of the actors have fully committed to making this show an amazing experience.” – James Shopbell (12th grade, Patrick)

“With all the struggle that our community has been through, it is so inspiring to see something like this come together. I’m so proud to be a part of this production and the Drama Program in general.” – Errol Dassie (9th grade, Squidward)

“Part of what I love best about theatre is the game that the audience and the cast get to play. They agree to a suspension of disbelief when they enter our doors – that they have entered a world that may be created from items as simple and silly as party cups and pool noodles. The SpongeBob Musical does this to the max. In a show that celebrates empathy and appreciating what everyone can bring to the world, The SpongeBob Musical asks the audience to create Bikini Bottom with us. So, welcome to Bikini Bottom!” – Director Miss Alison Garfinkel

Marshall’s performance of The SpongeBob Musical is directed by Miss Alison Garfinkel, with Vocal and Musical Director Ms. Michelle Espinosa, Musical Direction by Ms. Heather King, and the collaborative efforts of Choreographers Ms. Darcy Naganuma and Mx. Cat Heinen. The show is run by an all-student crew with technical support from Mr. Daniel Gutierrez,  sound support from Mr. Mike Schmidt, and set designs by Mr. Luis Rendon.
