The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) in Pasadena will be sponsoring a Memorial Day commemoration on Monday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the site of the Vietnam War Memorial in Pasadena’s Memorial Park, located at 35 E. Holly Street.

Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day for remembrance of those who have died serving the armed forces of the United States.

Included in the day’s program at Memorial Park is an appearance by Blair High School Junior ROTC cadets, bagpipers playing “Amazing Grace,” and the reading of the 31 names that are inscribed on the Vietnam War Memorial.

Former Pasadena Mayor William M. Paparian, who served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam war, will be attending. He was mayor of Pasadena from 1995 to 1997.

Mayor Victor Gordo, members of the Pasadena City Council, and other guests have also been invited.
