Mizuno Joins the Free Monday Night Run on Pasadena’s Lake Avenue

The routes out of the Run With Us parking lot are the same every Monday. The shoe brand on hand is not, and on August 24 it is Mizuno.

The Run With Us Monday Fun Run is a free social run and walk that the Pasadena running store holds every Monday at 6:00 p.m. Participants gather in the lot at 235 North Lake Avenue and choose one of three options: a six-mile run, a four-mile run, or a two-mile walk. It is open to different paces and ability levels, and participants can meet local runners and explore the neighborhood.

The August 24 run is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mizuno will be joining that evening, Run With Us said, and participants may have opportunities to test running shoes. The brand changes week to week: Superfeet on August 3, Topo Athletic on August 10, New Balance on August 17, and Asics and Superfeet on August 31.

All three courses are mapped on Strava. Wearing a Run With Us T-shirt earns a chance at raffle prizes that range from shoes to race entries and gift cards, the store said.

Run With Us sits in the Playhouse Village district, reached from the Lake Avenue exit south of the 210 Freeway. The district has one-hour free street parking, a city-owned lot on South Madison Avenue with roughly 100 spaces, and a parking plaza at Union and El Molino near Playhouse Village Park, according to the Playhouse Village Association. Pasadena Transit routes 10 and 20 run through the district, and the association says the Metro A Line’s Memorial Park and Lake Avenue stations will get riders to Playhouse Village.

Run With Us opened on February 1, 2000, under owners Peter and Maria Van Gansen, the store said, and Pasadena lacked a store specializing in running at the time, despite the runners and walkers who exercise daily around the Rose Bowl. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The routes do not change from week to week. The shoes do.
