Pelican Cove Counseling Centers (PCCC), a mental health provider for low-or no-income individuals, has expanded its Alhambra offices due to the high need for quality, affordable mental health services. In 2021 PCCC provided approximately 475 therapy sessions a month and forecast a 50% increase in sessions in 2022.
The office, located at 240 S. Garfield Avenue in Alhambra offers Telehealth and In-person sessions for individuals, couples and families.
“Our goal at Pelican Cove is to help those suffering from emotional pain who cannot afford quality care,” said Soni Kim Monroe, Psy.D., licensed clinical psychologist and founder of PCCC. “While we address a wide variety of cases, our immediate aim is to begin support for those most affected by the pandemic crisis.”
All community members are encouraged to reach out to Pelican Cove if they are in need of high quality mental health services. Individuals with no insurance, high deductible insurance or high copays, as well as those who receive public assistance and are on Medicaid, or Medi-Cal, are encouraged to apply.
Staffed by 11 therapists, the facility also serves as a teaching center for psychotherapists in training for Marriage and Family Therapy, Master’s degrees in Social Work, and Doctoral candidates in Psychology programs.
