Published on Oct 16, 2022

Pasadena Village members have added additional events to the month-long open house celebrating their 10th anniversary. All are welcome to attend the free Open October programs which reflect the diverse array of offerings that members enjoy every month of the year.

Connect with fellow older adults at free programs including in-person neighborhood walks and ping-pong or join in Zoom discussions on spirituality, Spanish conversation, and racism in America. In addition, a presentation by nurse Sue Feldmeth on cannabis and CBD will be offered on Zoom on Wednesday, October 19 at 11:00 am, and Member Dr. Michael Werner, who was a project scientist for the NASA Spitzer Space Telescope, will take a deep dive into infrared astronomy on Monday, October 24, 4:00 pm on Zoom. Rick Holliday, a licensed Medicare agent and Pasadena Village board member, will explain the inner workings of Medicare on Tuesday, October 25 at 11:00 am in person at Pasadena Public Library, La Pintoresca Branch.  The entire Open October calendar of events can be viewed at https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/open-october-1118279

The Open October events reflect just some of the member-led offerings that help create community and support older adults who are aging in place in the greater Pasadena area. Members also receive free one-on-one IT help, rides, help at home, temporary meal assistance, and friendly visits as needed.

Pasadena Village was established over ten years ago when a group of Pasadena residents began meeting to explore how they might help each other age in place successfully. They learned about Beacon Hill Village, a pioneer in the national Village movement, and began holding small gatherings in homes to talk about how they could make their lives the best they could be. Today Pasadena Village is made up of 130 older adults who are engaged in life through new friendships, meaningful experiences, involvement in the wider community, and in helping one another in a time of need.

If you know of an older adult who wants a community of support as they age, please visit www.pasadenavillage.org, email info@pasadenavillage.org, or call 626-765-6037.
