Photographers still shooting with DSLR cameras can test Nikon’s mirrorless system and learn about trade-in incentives at a free demonstration event at Samy’s Camera Pasadena on February 5.

Nikon Representative Joel Bremer will be at the Colorado Boulevard store from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to demonstrate the company’s mirrorless cameras and lenses, answer technical questions, and explain the advantages of the Z-mount system over traditional DSLRs.

Attendees who trade in a DSLR can receive a bonus toward the purchase of Nikon’s Z5 II, an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera that launched last year at $1,696.

The event comes as the camera industry continues its shift away from DSLR technology. Nikon has committed to its mirrorless Z system, releasing multiple models since 2018. The company’s FTZ II adapter allows photographers to continue using their existing F-mount lenses on Z-mount bodies, easing the transition for those with substantial lens collections.

Samy’s Camera has operated in Southern California since 1976, when founder Samy Kamienowicz opened his first store in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles. The Pasadena location at 1759 E. Colorado Blvd. is one of four California stores and includes a rental department and photo school program.

The event is free. Registration is available through Eventbrite and requires agreement to Samy’s Photo School terms and conditions.

Samy’s Camera Pasadena can be reached at (626) 796-3300. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
