Elisabeth Louise Vigée–LeBrun (French, 1755–1842), Portrait of Theresia, Countess Kinsky, 1793, oil on canvas, Norton Simon Art Foundation
For 50 years, works by women artists have hung in the Norton Simon Museum’s galleries, often overshadowed by more celebrated names. Now the institution in Pasadena is turning the spotlight directly on these artists with a specialized tour.
The museum will offer “50 Years: Women Artists in the Norton Simon Museum Collection” on Friday, Oct. 10, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Led by a museum educator, the tour examines works by Berthe Morisot, Elisabeth Louise Vigée-LeBrun, Helen Frankenthaler and others.
Admission is free with museum admission. General admission is $20 for adults and $15 for visitors aged 62 and over. Members, students with valid identification, and youth 18 and under receive free entry.
Space is limited to 20 participants, with sign-up required at the Information Desk when the museum opens on a first-come, first-served basis.
