It’s holiday time. In spite of COVID-19, the spirit of giving still lives in Old Pasadena.
“We still believe in the magic of local businesses,” Janet Swartz, Director of Marketing & Events for the Old Pasadena Management District, told Pasadena Now. “Shop, dine, and be merry in the charm of Old Pasadena.”
There are more than 200 locally owned businesses and national retailers in old Pasadena, all of whom are carefully following safety protocols for customers. Shoppers can find the Old Pasadena retail directory for more details, or check out the list of independents here.
Along with shopping, Old Pasadena has been uniquely reconfigured since summer to provide for safe outdoor dining at any of more than 100+ restaurants.
Visitors can still enjoy safe outdoor dining on streets, sidewalks, and In the commUNITY dining areas along Big Bang Theory Way.
If you’re not taking the Metro Gold Line, there is plenty of 90-minute free parking at three nearby Park & Walk Garages.
A number of businesses and restaurants also have contact-free curbside pick up. Visitors can look for the signs for convenient 20-minute pick-up zones
Finally, shoppers can venture out safely masked to visit Old Pasadena on Small Business Saturday, November 28, 2020, to take advantage of special promotions and to celebrate the local commUNITY of independent businesses.
Swartz also said local businesses are counting on holiday dollars even more this season to stay afloat and keep their doors open.
“It’s been such a tough year for small businesses,” said Swartz, “and shopping local through the holidays ensures these treasured locations will continue to serve our community in 2021 and beyond. When you visit your local retailer or restaurant, you help retain jobs, maintain revenue for vital city services, and preserve the unique, local flavor of Pasadena.”
