Open Gate Theatre Explores the Moral High Ground With “Philoctetes”

Open Gate Theatre, both an ensemble and a creative collective that has presented most of their shows in Pasadena, presents “Philoctetes,” a chamber opera based freely on the Sophocles play, by Will Salmon and the Open Gate Ensemble, on Sunday, June 19, at Pasadena’s Neighborhood Church on N. Orange Grove Blvd.

The show begins at 7 p.m. and features singer/actors Joseph Garate, Charles Lane, Tany Ling, and Will Salmon. Visuals are by Kio Griffith and Seda Saar.

Open Gate Theatre joins a wide diversity of creative artists including instrumentalists, clowns, singers, puppet/mask makers, dancers, and actors as well as writers, composers, choreographers, videographers, and visual artists. The group has worked together over an extended time and on multiple projects to form a unique blend of music theater.
