Parson’s Nose Theater in Pasadena has announced the postponement of its January production of “The Madwoman of Chaillot” following devastating fires that severely affected members of the company’s theatrical family.
“It’s just too soon,” the theater company said in a statement, noting that two families connected to the production had lost their homes in recent fires.
John and Donna Harnagel, along with Justine Perri, daughter of cast member Paul Perri, lost all their possessions in the fires, according to the statement, which included links to GoFundMe pages for the affected families.
The production, which was initially announced on Jan. 7 before the fires, had been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m.
The theater company plans to reschedule the 80-minute production, which features an original score by Tom Peters and was adapted and directed by Lance Davis, for later in the season.
The modernist fairy tale, written in Nazi-occupied Paris in 1944, was to feature Mary Chalon as Countess Aurelia, alongside Jill Rogosheske, Marisa Chandler, Heather Taylor, John Harnagel, Gary Lamb, Barry Gordon, Paul Perri, Ethan Rockwell, and Lance Davis.
The company will proceed with its February schedule, featuring a New Play Series reading of Hoyt Hilsman’s “Essex Corners.”
“Onward! We shall laugh together again. A promise,” the theater’s statement concluded, adding that ticket refunds through Tix.com are being processed.
