Tail Town Cats will hold its monthly Cats on Mats: Yoga session Sunday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 5 p.m. at its adoption lounge at 1780 E. Washington Blvd. in Pasadena, and admission is $20.

The hour runs 45 minutes of what the nonprofit describes as cat-inspired stretching and meditative movement, followed by a 15-minute cool down with the cats. The organization describes the class as an “all levels non intense yoga session” and says proceeds go toward the care of its rescue cats.

Reservations are required, and the lounge admits only 20 guests at a time. Participants bring their own yoga mat and towel. Guests are asked to sign a liability waiver before entering, acknowledging that the cats and kittens have teeth and nails.

The session is open to ages 6 and older. Children under 6 are not allowed in the lounge, and guests aged 6 to 14 must attend with a paying adult, who is responsible for signing them in. One adult is required for every two children under 12.

Between 30 and 40 adoption-ready cats roam cage-free in the space. Tail Town Cats is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with Kitten Rescue of Los Angeles and says it has found homes for more than 500 cats since opening in July 2021. The session recurs monthly, with dates set for Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6.
