Sunday is also the first market of the 2026-2027 cycle for Lancers for Life, the Pasadena City College Foundation’s student ambassador program. Proceeds from the monthly market go to student scholarships and activities, and the market distributes more than $32,000 in scholarships each year to students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership or volunteerism, according to the college.
The market fills Parking Lots 1 and 3 and parking structure 4. The college puts vendor turnout at more than 400 and describes the merchandise as varying from “high-end antiques to rummage sale-type items.” A record swap on the fourth-floor ramp of the Del Mar Boulevard parking structure, Lot 4, draws more than 50 record and used-music vendors selling memorabilia, CDs and DVDs, from big band to present-day performers, by the college’s count.
The market is typically held on the first Sunday of every month except January, when the Rose Parade takes over the area. It runs rain or shine, the Foundation says. Co-founder Tom Selinski has said he and his brother started it in 1979 as students at the college. “The great thing about this market is that the purpose has always been to support student scholarships and student activities,” Selinski said.
The Pasadena City College Flea Market runs Sunday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pasadena City College, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91106. Admission is free. Customer parking is $2 per vehicle in Lot 5, off Bonnie Avenue; parking in the surrounding residential neighborhood is not permitted.
