More than 400 vendors set up across the west side of the PCC campus, selling goods the college describes as ranging from high-end antiques to rummage-sale finds, along with collectibles, vinyl records and other vintage items. The market fills Parking Lots 1 and 3 and Parking Structure 4, off Bonnie Avenue, according to the college.
The campus is at 1570 East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. The market is held on the first Sunday of every month except January, when the Rose Parade takes over the area, according to the college. It runs rain or shine, the PCC Foundation says, and the college’s page indicates the August date follows a July 5 market earlier in the summer.
Vendor-fee revenue goes to the Pasadena City College Foundation, which the college says uses it to fund student scholarships and campus activities. The college’s student information page states the market awards more than $32,000 in scholarships each year to PCC students who have demonstrated leadership or volunteerism, and lists a discounted $20 vending rate for officially chartered student clubs. Pasadena Now has reported that the Foundation took over operation of the market from the Pasadena Area Community College District under a 2021 transfer agreement, and that the market’s roots stretch back to the late 1970s.
A dedicated record swap features more than 50 vendors selling vinyl, CDs, DVDs and music memorabilia spanning big-band recordings through current releases. The college describes it as the best record marketplace in Southern California. The record swap is located on the fourth floor of the Bonnie Avenue parking structure, according to Pasadena Now.
Customer parking is available in Lot 5, off Bonnie Avenue. The source listing notes that a parking fee may apply; the college’s visiting page specifies a $2-per-vehicle fee and states that parking in the surrounding residential neighborhood is not permitted for the event.
