Pasadena City College will host a walkthrough display Tuesday to commemorate Immigrant Heritage Month, highlighting the contributions and experiences of immigrants in the campus community.

The Tuesday, June 3 event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the PCC Quad at 1570 E. Colorado Blvd. The display is organized by the college’s Division of Institutional Equity, Diversity and Justice.

June marks Immigrant Heritage Month, established in 2014 by the “I Stand With Immigrants” initiative to honor immigrants’ resilience, achievements and cultural contributions to the United States.

The college has positioned itself as an advocate for immigrant students, staff and faculty. According to a PCC announcement, the college stands in solidarity with immigrant students, staff, and faculty and “recognizes the harm of exclusionary immigration policies.”

The organizing division works to advance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the college, with a mission to create “an anti-racist and anti-colonial institution.” The division collaborates with students, staff and faculty to dismantle systemic racism in alignment with PCC’s values.

The division’s priorities include leading organizational change toward diversity goals, building coalitions for strategic initiatives, facilitating learning at multiple organizational levels, and responding to communities facing conflict and crisis.
