Four-mile guided walk will showcase historic sites during free museum event

The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition is organizing a special four-mile walking tour on Sunday, May 4, in conjunction with the 35th annual Museums of the Arroyo (MOTA) Day. The all-volunteer group will lead participants on a round-trip journey showcasing several historic Pasadena landmarks during the free museum event.

“Participants in the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition walk are advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring lunch or snacks, water, sunscreen, and a hat, as the event will involve approximately four hours of walking,” according to the organization’s Instagram post.

The walking tour begins at noon at the Gamble House, a National Historic Landmark located at 4 Westmoreland Place in Pasadena. From there, the route will include stops at the Pasadena Museum of History, Fenyes Mansion, Finnish Folk Art Museum, a picnic at Ambassador Garden, a tour of Arlington Garden, and a walk through the Tournament of Roses house gardens.

Registration for the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition MOTA Day walk is available on Eventbrite at bit.ly/MOTAWalk2025. The event is designed to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities who are comfortable with the four-hour walking timeframe.

The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, which advocates for cleaner, healthier, sustainable, and more inclusive transportation and planning solutions in Pasadena, has aligned this walking tour with their mission of promoting pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.

The walking tour coincides with National Ride a Bike Day, also on May 4, which is supported by the City of Pasadena Department of Transportation in partnership with Day One and the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition. Both events encourage active transportation and community engagement with local sites.

While MOTA Day features six museums offering free admission from noon to 4 p.m., the Complete Streets Coalition’s guided walk provides a structured way to visit several of these locations while enjoying the outdoor spaces between them. The walk will include the Pasadena Museum of History at 470 W. Walnut St., which is the only museum and research library dedicated solely to preserving and sharing the history, art, and culture of Pasadena and the west San Gabriel Valley.
