Experience history where history happened on Thursday, August 13th from 5:30pm-7pm as Pasadena Heritage hosts “Pieces of America” with Periscope Film at The Raymond Theatre.
Attendees will gather at Pasadena’s historic 1921 Raymond Theatre for an evening with documentary filmmaker and archivist Nick Spark as he presents rare historic motion pictures from the Periscope Film Archive. Featuring travelogues, home movies, industrial and training films, educational shorts, and other fascinating nonfiction footage, the program offers a chance to experience everyday life throughout the twentieth century, including rare scenes from Pasadena and the surrounding region.
These films create an American time capsule, capturing the moments that shaped the world we currently inhabit. More than a glimpse into history, they remind us just how much we share with the people who came before us. Their routines, aspirations, challenges, and communities often feel remarkably familiar.
“The Raymond Theatre has spent more than a century bringing people together through shared experiences, from early films to legendary concerts,” said Pasadena Heritage Programs Director Nick Giovanazzi. “Presenting Pieces of America here feels especially fitting because we’re continuing that tradition, using historic motion pictures to connect audiences with the past in one of Pasadena’s most remarkable historic spaces.”
