Pasadena Heritage is hosting two virtual events on Saturday, Sept. 26, that just about anyone can enjoy.

The first one, starting at 10 a.m., is a virtual walking tour of the Governor Markham Landmark District, one of Pasadena’s oldest neighborhoods. Named for its most famous resident, Henry H. Markham, a congressman and governor of California, this district is remarkable for the quality and variety of its residential architecture.

Styles range from Queen Anne Victorian, Shingle, and Neoclassical to Foursquare, Craftsman, Spanish Colonial Revival, and English vernacular. Most of the homes are the works of renowned architects, including Harry Ridgeway, Charles and Henry Greene, Frederick Roehrig, Myron Hunt, Charles W. Buchanan, J. J. Blick, Leonard A. Cooke, G. Lawrence Stimson, Frank M. Tyler, and Sylvanus Marston.

The virtual tour, guided by Pasadena Heritage docents, will last about 90 minutes and will cost $10 for members, and $15 for nonmembers.

The second event, starting at 2 p.m., is the Quarantine Crawl Virtual Happy Hour. This will feature a downloadable beer-tasting guide, instructions, and Pasadena Heritage docents hosting a live beer-tasting and pub trivia event. Brews by Cerveceria del Pueblo will also be featured.

This will last about two hours and will cost $10 to participate, whether or not you are a Pasadena Heritage member.

Pasadena Heritage was incorporated in 1977 as a nonprofit historic preservation organization. Since inception, the organization has grown from a grass-roots group of concerned citizens to the second-largest preservation organization in the state, with programs directly benefiting the City of Pasadena and attracting a broad regional audience.

Pasadena Heritage holds more than 80 historic preservation easements – the largest easement program west of the Mississippi – and has a revolving Preservation Fund to assist with hands-on preservation projects. The group is best known for the preservation of the Colorado Street Bridge and Old Pasadena, the commercially successful revitalization of the original downtown.
