The day-long program features four expert presentations covering pressing wildlife topics. Lauren Hamlett from Pasadena Humane will discuss urban wildlife rehabilitation at 11:15 a.m., followed by Kristin Ochoa from Chaney Trail Corridor presenting on wildlife post-fire recovery at 12:15 p.m. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will address living with bears at 1:15 p.m., and Samantha Morales Johnson from the San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians will present Native Science 101 at 2:15 p.m.
Families and children can participate in multiple interactive learning stations throughout the event. Activities include animal ambassadors meet-n-greets, wildlife mask coloring, seed bomb making for native plant restoration, a wildlife sticker station, and a “Measure Your Wingspan” bird education activity designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Representatives from several conservation organizations will attend, including International Bird Rescue, California Wildlife Center, We Explore Earth, Cougar Conservancy, Chaney Trail Corridor Project, and Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy. The marketplace will feature vendors such as Patagonia, Barefoot Seeker Art, Srimoyee Handmade Art, Californica Nursery, Altadena Seed Library, Majano Coffee, and more.
The event includes a presentation of an official Board Scroll by Supervisor Kathryn Barger, with Pasadena Humane leadership accepting recognition. Bob and Carol McCrary generously sponsor Wildlife Day, with additional support from various local conservation organizations.
