The Pasadena Public Library’s Jefferson Branch will host K-Pop Nite on Saturday, February 7, a free community gathering for teen and young adult fans of Korean pop music.

Running from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the event offers activities including photocard trading, crafts, music video screenings and a photo booth.

The program reflects a broader shift in American libraries, which increasingly recognize K-pop as a powerful draw for adolescent patrons.

More than 150 million fans engage with K-pop worldwide.

The teen services librarian coordinates programming for adolescent patrons at Jefferson Branch, which serves as “the library system’s hub for youth services.”

The 9,400-square-foot branch opened in 2022 as a temporary facility designed to operate for five years while the city’s Central Library undergoes a $195 million seismic retrofit project.

Recent teen programming at Pasadena library branches has included a K-Pop Demon Hunters singalong at Hastings Branch in September, which encouraged participants ages 12 and older to attend in costume and bring light sticks for “the high-energy celebration.”

K-pop Nite will run on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa St., in Pasadena.Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa St., Pasadena. For more call (626) 744-8046 or visit https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D194095835.
