The ACT-MOVE-FLOW program, scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 25, combines music therapy, movement and improvisational acting to help participants develop self-awareness and social connections. The Pasadena Public Library is sponsoring the program, which features facilitators Jafar Lawrence Woods, PgDIP Creative Arts Therapy, and Ricki Worth, MM, MT-BC, from LA Musica Therapy.
The program uses mirroring movements through dance therapy, beat-making and call-and-response songwriting, and mask-making combined with storytelling.
LA Musica Therapy describes the program as providing participants with tools to navigate their emotions, build confidence, and develop interpersonal skills in a safe, engaging, and structured environment.
This is the second session of the program, which debuted Nov. 18. An introductory session was held Oct. 16.
Tim McDonald, director of Libraries and Information Services, notes the significance of the ACT-MOVE-FLOW program as one of several initiatives focused on accessibility and inclusion. The library offers other inclusive programs designed for all abilities.
The Pasadena Public Library offers more than 2,300 on-site programs annually through its 10 branch locations. The library system employs 99 full-time employees and circulates more than 1.2 million books, DVDs and other resources per year.
ACT-MOVE-FLOW will run on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. La Pintoresca Branch Library, 1355 N. Raymond Ave., Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 744-7268 or visit https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D191012068. Admission: Free.
