Pasadena Library Offers Free Halloween Craft Event

Santa Catalina Branch hosts spider jar craft as part of October programming

he Santa Catalina Branch Library will host a free Halloween craft event on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 4:00 p.m., giving participants the chance to “create a glowing mason jar full of creepy (plastic) spiders just in time for Halloween!”

The event is open to all ages at no cost. Those interested can call the Santa Catalina Branch Library at (626) 744-7272.

The spider jar craft is one of several Halloween-themed programs the library is offering throughout October. Other events include “Art with Jeanette” on Oct. 15, “Spooky Fuse Beads” on Oct. 16, “Mini Pumpkin Decorating” on Oct. 18, and “Massive Multiplayer In-Person Spooky Board Games!” on Oct. 22.

The Santa Catalina Branch Library is located at 999 E. Washington Blvd. in Pasadena, and operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The library houses the Pasadena Public Library’s Armenian language collection and maintains approximately 49,000 items in its collection. According to the library’s official website, “Home to the system’s Armenian language collection, Santa Catalina is one of the oldest branch libraries in the Pasadena system,” with library service at the location dating back to 1913 and the present building opening in 1930.

The Pasadena Public Library system includes 10 branches, circulates over 1.2 million items annually, and employs 99 full time employees.
