The Pasadena Public Library will host a free art workshop next Thursday that asks participants to turn their personal stories into visual art for Women’s History Month.

The “I Am” Radiating Paper Mosaic, set for 3:30 p.m. March 12 at the Santa Catalina Branch Library, 999 E. Washington Blvd., invites attendees ages 13 and older to create mosaics using words and phrases about their own journeys and identities, according to a City of Pasadena press release. The event is one of several hands-on workshops the library system is offering throughout March to mark the national observance.

The workshop’s format is participatory rather than lecture-based. Attendees will build mosaics from words and phrases meaningful to them — with results as individual as the people who make them.

The library’s broader Women’s History Month lineup includes “Collage your Role Model” on March 7 at Santa Catalina Branch for ages nine and older, “Amelia Earhart’s Paper Plane Race” on March 14 at the same branch for ages eight and older, and “Celebrate Women’s ‘Her’ Story – Bookmarks” on March 20 at the San Rafael Branch Library for adults. Registration is required for some events; details are available at CityOfPasadena.net/Library/Calendar/.

The City of Pasadena’s Commission on the Status of Women is also hosting HERstory 2026: The Path Forward for Pay Equity on March 14 at Robinson Park, an event focused on closing the pay gap that features a panel discussion with excerpts from the 2025 film “Lilly.” That event requires an RSVP.

The “I Am” Radiating Paper Mosaic is free. For more information, call (626) 744-7272.

The national Women’s History Month theme for 2026 is “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” according to the National Women’s History Alliance. At Santa Catalina Branch Library, one of the oldest in the Pasadena system, next Thursday’s workshop offers one way to observe the month: by putting something personal on the page.
