The city that raised a rainbow flag over its civic center at the start of June will cap the month’s Pride programming the same way it has for the past four summers with a free party on the steps of City Hall.

Pasadena’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is hosting the 4th annual “Love, Loud & Proud!” Pride Month celebration on Saturday, June 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. The event is free, open to all ages, and requires no registration. This year, the Pasadena Public Health Department will offer Hepatitis A and flu vaccinations and public health education on-site, and the California Department of Public Health will administer mpox vaccinations and STI screenings, according to city press materials.

The evening’s lineup, as described in city press releases, includes performances by local drag artists, drag story hour, music by DJ Keelez, dance contests, inflatables, arts and crafts, and a photo op area curated by event sponsor Girl Squad Media. Food trucks will be on hand with food available for purchase. Attendees can also connect with local LGBTQIA+ organizations, community partners, and several City of Pasadena departments.

The celebration is the anchor event of a month-long series of city-organized Pride programming. Earlier in June, Mayor Victor M. Gordo and the City Council hosted a Pride Flag Raising at City Hall on June 2. Other events include a “Queer Ecology” nature walk and discussion at Hill Avenue Branch Library, library craft activities, and book discussions at several Pasadena Public Library branches, according to the city.

All Saints Church-Pasadena, Pasadena Management Association, Girl Squad Media, The Boulevard, and Fat Boys are listed as sponsors of the June 21 event, per city press materials.

For the fourth year, Pasadena City Hall’s plaza will fill with color and this year, the city is also making sure anyone who walks through has a chance to leave a little healthier.
